Dan Shulman was born on February 9, 1967 in Toronto, Ontario where he completed his Bachelor's degree in actuarial science from University of Western Ontario. Shulman stepped into his broadcasting career by becoming the main voice of university football and basketball for the Western Mustangs on CHRW Radio. He was hired by sports radio station, Fan 1430 in 1990s as the host of Prime Time Sports. He also covered hockey of the 1994 Winter Olympics from Lillehammer, Norway and the 1994 World Championship of Basketball.
Shulman became the play-by-play voice on TSN for their broadcasts of Toronto Blue Jays in 1995 as well as worked as the network's secondary play-by-play voice for NHL hockey and lead announcer for NBA Basketball. In 2001, he moved to ESPN as a full time commentator covering sporting events like baseball, basketball and occasionally hockey.
