Begala began his profession as a political consultant by establishing his consulting team Carville and Begala, with his partner James Carville. He was the chief strategist of the Clinton campaign and they advised and helped Bill Clinton win the presidential election in 1992. He then became the chief counselor to Clinton during his presidency, during which Begala helped coordinate different Clinton policies. Besides the presidential win of 1992, the Carville-Begala team helped win other political victories such as the 1988
re-election of Frank Lautenberg as the New Jersey senator, Zell Miller (1990) and so forth. Begala, in the late 1990s, also worked for the magazine George, set up by John F.
